PROGRAMS/ACTIVITIES
Deerassic Park Field Trips can be geared towards ALL AGES and get kids excited and engaged in the outdoors!
Teachers and Administrators can check out the grade specific listing of activities offered and their correlating Academic Content Standards. We are proud to work with your school/group to provide hands-on learning opportunities. Don’t see exactly what you’re looking for within our pre-existing curriculum? We would be happy to work with you to develop programming to fit your individual needs. We are also available to travel with our lessons to your classroom or event!
TYPICAL SCHEDULE
A field trip day generally runs approx. 3-6 hours and consists of 4-6 programs with a break for lunch (depending on your arrival/departure time). You decide how long you want to be here and our staff will let you know how many activities we can fit into that schedule.
NEW – Field trips just got a whole lot better at Deerassic!!! ALL field trips will now include a tour of our brand new, hands-on Welcome Center that includes all sorts of fun nature displays! Also included in this activity is our Gift Shop that includes Deerassic apparel, toys, souvenirs, and other items for field trip groups to purchase and remember their amazing day here at the Park! (If you wish, the Gift Shop can be “closed” for the day as well if you do not want it to be a part of the experience.)
Our age/grade guidelines are suggestions; you know your students and their educational level best. We can also adapt most programs for any grade level or design a program to meet your needs.
Call our Education Director at 740-435-3335 or email luke@deerassic.com to discuss further options.
COST
The cost is normally $5 per student with exceptions for smaller groups. Chaperones and teachers are free! We also offer transportation grants to schools and youth groups to help with the cost of bussing — please see our Grant Opportunities for more information.
LUNCH
Students may eat inside the Education Complex or outside under one of our pavilions (depending on the activities/schedule.) You may bring sack lunches or plan to utilize our kitchen to cook your own meals. Please let us know your meal plan when making your reservation.
WEATHER CONTINGENCY
Every chance is given to utilize the planned activity even in the event of somewhat uncooperative weather (misting, slight rain, etc.). However, in the event that the weather is completely uncooperative, we will continue scheduled programming indoors without rescheduling whenever possible.
IN-CLASS VISITS
If for whatever reason your group/school can’t make it out to the Park or you want to continue the experience throughout the entire school year, Deerassic will come to you!
We offer a full list of activities adapted to be brought into YOUR classroom! Don’t let the learning stop with your field trip day and bring Deerassic to your school today!

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
HOW FAR IN ADVANCE DO WE NEED TO RESERVE OUR BOOKING?
Most field trips book 6-12 months in advance, sometimes longer.
In-class visits can book that far out, but most visits aren’t booked until the school year starts, so 2-6 months in advancee.
If you have something pop-up right away, we need a MINIMUM of 3 weeks notice to make a trip work so we have time to line up staffing. However, most of the time this is near impossible with how full our schedule gets.
HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?
Field trips cost $5 per participant, chaperones are free. The only exception is if the group is 20 participants or less, then the cost is $100.00 flat rate.
In-Class visits are based on several factors including; number of participants, duration of the visit, number of our staff required to run the activities, distance to travel, and if you have any additional supplies costs (turkey calls, bird boxes, owl pellets). Upon your booking, you’ll be asked to provide the above info and once we have your information, we can give you a quote on your in-class visit.
WHAT INFORMATION DO I NEED AT BOOKING?
If you’re looking to book, please see above our easy-to-use “Field Trip Date Request Form”. There you’ll fill out all the necessary info to book your trip date.
HOW LONG CAN WE BE THERE?
Field trip times are totally flexible and up to the person booking the trip! We suggest anywhere from 3-5 hours for an enjoyable field trip experience. If you are a school or organization using bussing, we just ask you PLEASE contact your transportation department to coordinate arrival and departure times at Deerassic. That way we can plan your field trip schedule accordingly.
WHAT ACTIVITIES CAN WE DO DURING OUR TRIP?
Deerassic Park Field Trips can be geared towards ALL AGES and get kids excited and engaged in the outdoors!

You can find our list of activities HERE!
WHERE DO WE GO WHEN WE GET THERE?
If bussing, please pull in to the far righthand side of the Education Complex to the front doors labeled “Education Center”. We have a bus pull-around setup specifically for field trips!
If transporting by cars, please just use our general parking lot and enter through the “Education Center” entrance as well.
WHAT ABOUT LUNCH?
We built our new Education Complex with field trips in mind! Our facilities are catered to you being here!
Upon arrival, please unload all lunches and they can be stored in the classrooms right inside the Education Center entrance where we will start and end the day, as well as eat lunch. We also have some refrigeration storage if needed.
HOW DO WE PAY?
Field trips and in-class visits can be paid the day of the trip or after the trip within 30 days.
We accept cash, credit card (not for in-class visits), and checks made out to “Deerassic Park”.
We do not like to charge ahead of the trip date due to the chance of over or under charging. You tell us sometimes months in advance how many participants are coming. The likelihood of that many actually showing up the day of the trip is very unlikely. So we prefer payment the day of or afterwards to avoid this issue. We can email an invoice to you to take care of, or to forward to your Finance Department.
WE HAVE A FEW STUDENTS IN WHEELCHAIRS, WILL THIS BE AN ISSUE BEING AN OUTDOOR FACILITY?
Our staff is VERY accommodating to ALL groups! Wheelchairs should be able to make it to all stations for the day. If not, we can transport those students & their mobility devices by golf cart to get them to certain activities that may require more of a lengthy rotation. Please give us this heads up if you have a few students that have mobility issues so we can plan ahead. We do it all the time! 🙂
