We may be biased with our love for deer, but Bowhunting Camp is always one of our favorites! These wonderful group of campers had a blast and learned so much this past week sharpening their woodsmanship skills when it comes to hunting. This camp features activities we don’t normally do at a lot of other camps including setting mock scrapes and mineral sites, land management for wildlife, aging and scoring bucks on the hoof, deer biology, shot placement and “reading” an arrow, tracking and blood trailing, field dressing/meat processing, shooting from ground blinds, kneeling positions and from a tree stand, scent control and playing the wind and many more. And of course we have to throw the Deerassic camp fun ones in like dodgeball, survival kickball, gaga ball and even some Bowhunting Camp specific games like the “Quiet Game”, making the fake deer “guts” and of course the kid favorite “gauntlet” where the campers earned all sorts of hunting related prizes at the end!
