PROGRAMS/ACTIVITIES
Deerassic Park In-Class Visits can be geared towards ALL AGES and get kids excited and engaged in the outdoors!
Teachers and Administrators can check out the grade specific listing of activities offered and their correlating Academic Content Standards. We are proud to work with your school/group to provide hands-on learning opportunities. Don’t see exactly what you’re looking for within our pre-existing curriculum? We would be happy to work with you to develop programming to fit your individual needs.
TYPICAL SCHEDULE
A normal in-class visit usually consists of one activity but can consist of multiple. Most activities for in-class visits take approx. 45 min to an hour and a half depending on several factors. Some activities can take multiple days (class periods) to complete and can be booked over the course of several school days or even a few weeks! You decide how long you want us to be here and our staff will let you know how many activities we can fit into that schedule.
Some in-class visits are booked with the same activity for a full school day but different groups of students rotate into the activity. Some are just for one group of students, and some are multiple activities for the same group of students. We can make it work with your students/schedule!
Our age/grade guidelines are suggestions; you know your students and their educational level best. We can also adapt most programs for any grade level or design a program to meet your needs.

COST
The cost varies depending on the time allotted, activity booked, equipment needed, staffing, and travel. Please contact our Education Director for further details. We also offer “Deerassic On-The-Go” grants to schools and youth groups to help with the cost of in-class visits — please see our Grant Opportunities for more information.
WEATHER CONTINGENCY
Depending on the activity booked, some in-class visits can be held on your school’s playground or other outdoor space. In the event of bad weather during this visit, every chance is given to utilize the planned activity even in the event of somewhat uncooperative weather (misting, slight rain, etc.). However, in the event that the weather is completely uncooperative, we will be in contact to discuss other options (gym space, rescheduling, etc.)
WINTER FIELD TRIPS
If for whatever reason your group/school would like to come out to Deerassic but you can only come during the winter months, you can still come! With the utilization of our BRAND NEW Education Complex, we can host our “in-class visit” programs right here at our facilities. We have the gym space to do active programs or enough classroom space to do our usual in-class presentations. Just ask us!
RESERVATIONS & QUESTIONS
You can fill out the In-Class Visit Request Form above, or call 740-435-3335 Monday-Friday from 8:00 A.M. – 4:00 P.M., or email luke@deerassic.com to book dates. Be sure to include alternative date(s), arrival/departure times, number of students, program choices, and contact information. Also let us know if there are any special needs students may have so accommodations can be made. Please make reservations at least 3 weeks in advance from your planned date.
