Fishing/Boating Programs

All fishing and boating courses can be scheduled by appointment. If you have a church group, 4-H club, Boy Scout troop, etc. that would love to book one of these classes, please call (740) 435-3335 or email luke@deerassic.com.
Passport to Fishing:

This curriculum developed by the Ohio Division of Wildlife is dedicated to introducing youth to fishing. By covering topics such as habitat, handling, knots & rigging, casting, and regulations, these students leave the class with the knowledge required for a lifetime of fishing enjoyment.

Pond to Table:

This unique introduction to fishing allows students the opportunity to learn how to clean, prepare, and cook the fish they catch.

ACA Level 1: Introduction to Canoeing Class:
These classes are 8-hour long, full immersion sessions. These short programs emphasize entry-level paddling skills for individuals desiring an introduction to the sport of canoeing. This class is perfect for beginners and experienced paddlers to perfect their skills!
Ohio Boater Education Class (OBEC):
If you were born after 1981 and operate a boat greater than 10 horsepower, Ohio law requires you to have boater education. OBEC is Ohio’s official boating education course. This standardized 8-hour course is approved by the National Association of State Boating Law Administrators and is offered throughout Ohio to supplement other boating education opportunities. Course content focuses on Ohio and Federal boating laws, including equipment requirements, operating laws, rules of the road, buoy systems, plus topics of risk management, basic safety practices, and survival in emergencies.
